A revival of a five hundred year old custom took place at Olney. Bucks
A revival of a five hundred year old custom took place at Olney. Bucks. To-day when housewives took part in the traditional Pancake Day Race. Starting at the Parish Pump in the Town Square the competitors had to run a quarter of a mile to the Parish Church, " Tossing " their pancakes en route. The reward for the winner was a kiss from Verger W.K. Mynard, the bellringer, who started the race. All the competitors and many hundreds of townspeople who watched the race were welcomed by the Vicar the Rev. R.C. Collins and afterwards joined in a short service in the Parish Church.
